Quote of the Day...Guess Who and Guess When

So today, I want to ask you, what’s your contribution going to be? What problems are you going to solve? What discoveries will you make? What will a president who comes here in twenty or fifty or one hundred years say about what all of you did for this country?

  1. OMG this is so propagandistic...! If these radical conservatives every crawl out from their caves they may discover we no longer cook with just fire.

  2. John Harwood covered it pretty well last week when asked for his thoughts: "Let's face it, in a country of 300 million people, there are a lot of stupid people too, because if you believe that it's somehow unhealthy for kids for the president to say "work hard and stay in school," you're stupid. In fact, I'm worried for some of those kids of those parents who are upset, I'm not sure they're smart enough to raise those kids."

  3. Someone played an excerpt of an old audio of FDR giving a speech in a big hall in 1936. Not to a group of "elites", but to a rowdy, cheering, huge audience. He spoke eloquently, passionately, using educated speech, 3- and 4-syllable words, concepts not readily grasped by today's high school grads. It was really striking. But this is part of the right wing deal, friends. A less educated public is more easily manipulated by demagogues. There's a war on against democracy right here but some of our best have been lost in Iraq and Afghanistan -- with more mayhem to come...
