Poor thing! so sorry for you! I did think it was interesting by the way that the Audubon Society says the Indigo Bunting actually has no blue pigment but is actually black, yet due to the unique refraction of light through it's feathers, it appears blue.
A vet once told me there is a (health) reason why birds fly into windows. Try not to blame yourself too much...
