Great looking beast. I would grow basil just to attract them. Love your pictures. They instigate memories of my childhood in the Arkansas Ozarks.
Our insect expert says this is a katydid nymph. I think that is so cool! They seem to be so invisible until all of a sudden the mountain side goes to rocking at night. Now we know it is because they hide really well.
I'm not sure what this beastie is supposed to be mimicking but it's doing a great job of it.
