An osprey nest dominated my childhood. The rock which marked our harbor's channel had an osprey nest on the top. And then for years it didn't. Great sadness. Every time a visitor arrived instead of being told "see, that's an osprey nest!" were given the obligatory explanation "there was an osprey nest there; we don't know what happened to them."
Looking at this 2005 photo (which I googled for) it appears they may be back and that some sort of levelling has taken place,or maybe some gizmo has been placed at the top to make it easier to build a nest which will get through a nor' easter.
