Take Me Out...

Dick Cheney threw out the first pitch at the Washington Nationals baseball game yesterday to a wildly cheering crowd.

Well, actually they didn't cheer all that "wildly"...And actually they didn't cheer at all...And actually, what they did was boo. The Vice President of the United States was enthusiastically booed by a crowd of baseball fans. Loudly enough that the Fox Television producers tried to mute the sound of the crowd.

Think about it...there he was... alone on a hill, the man with the foolish grin was keeping perfectly still...As people showed him how much they love him...

Not!

...But nobody wants to know him,
They can see that he's just a fool.
And he never gives an answer .....

But the fool on the hill,
Sees the sun going down.
And the eyes in his head,
See the world spinning around.

Well on his way, his head in a cloud,
The man of a thousand voices, talking perfectly loud.
But nobody ever hears him,
Or the sound he appears to make.
And he never seems to notice .....

But the fool on the hill,
Sees the sun going down.
And the eyes in his head,
See the world spinning around.

And nobody seems to like him,
They can tell what he wants to do.
And he never shows his feelings,

But the fool on the hill,
Sees the sun going down.
And the eyes in his head,
See the world spinning around.

And then there's this verse:

...He never listens to them

He knows that they're the fools

They don't like him

The fool on the hill

Weird, huh? And then he threw the little white ball into the dirt and walked away. This was one of the few things the man on the hill has done in which nobody got hurt. No lawyers were hit in the face.

Peace,

Steve

Watch him and listen

  1. I liked also this sentence from the AP report: "The vice president stood directly in front of the mound and released a ball that hit the dirt in front of home plate. Nationals catcher Brian Schneider scooped it up."

And that's it. It's almost Chaplinesque. Let's watch that film again, only this time in slow motion. One day later and I'm still laughing at those two sentences!
