Supreme Corp.

Odd that my rant today was about Corporate money laundering in politics aiding and abetting the enemies of a free America, and now, Bush nominates a Lawyer with absolutely ZERO judicial experience to be a Supreme Court Justice. Hmmmm...What does she have experience in?

Representing Corporations... legally, of course, unlike Mr. DeLay:

* Ms. Miers had a very distinguished career as a trial litigator, representing such clients as Microsoft, Walt Disney Co. and SunGard Data Systems Inc.

I don't think Rehnquist was a judge either before being nominated. I don't know enough about her to know if it's a good choice(We'll see soon enough) but several justices weren't judges themselves, only clerking for justices.

  2. Some of the best justices in our history are "lay" people.

But what really got my goat just now was a local talk show host going on and on about her never having been married. "Now I don't have anything against this woman," he emphasized. "And I hear she's very smart. But there's something wrong with a woman who never gets married."

Followed by calls about the possibility that she had a hidden husband (after all, who can actually live without a husband) or (worse!) she, um, likes women...

I almost got enthusiastic about the nomination after all that!
