A very good friend, one of my "arguing" buddies, came over to me last night and said he was working the counter of a local convenience store when a teenaged girl came in, went to the newspaper rack, and walked up to the counter with ten Knoxville News Sentinels in her hands. She placed them on the counter and looked at my friend.

"That's my brother," she said pointing to the official photograph of the Marine in full dress uniform on the front page.

"She just lost it," he said..."She just broke down bawling."

"For the next hour after she left, it was all I could do to keep from crying"... Me too, last night, as he told me the story. We looked away from each other for a second or two and changed the subject.

I think our whole country is on its way to a broken heart...The folks that don't already have one, that is.
